SERRANO - Transparent Application Deployment in a Secure, Accelerated and Cognitive Cloud Continuum

SERRANO aims to create a cutting-edge ecosystem of cloud-based technologies that unifies edge, cloud, and HPC resources into a seamless, secure, and adaptive computing continuum. By introducing an abstraction layer and cognitive orchestration, it enables dynamic, application-specific service deployment optimized for performance, security, and energy efficiency.

Aligned with trends in edge-cloud integration, SERRANO also addresses key challenges in distributed computing, including privacy, acceleration, and automated task offloading. Its capabilities will be showcased through three use cases in secure storage, fintech, and Industry 4.0 anomaly detection.

Project Outcome

Chocolate Cloud developed an S3-compatible Gateway component that combines encryption and erasure coding to encode user files into redundant fragments, which are distributed to cloud and edge storage locations.

The Serrano project was carried out in close collaboration with leading academic institutions, research centers, and industry partners across Europe and Mellanox Techologies from Israel (just before they got acquired by NVidia).

Showcases the capability of SERRANO’s orchestration mechanisms to interact with the SERRANO-enhanced Secure Storage Service to create secure storage policies cognitively.
